Digital Modes with the Tokyo Hy Power HT-750 HF SSB HT Transceiver
The HT-750 has a connector on the side for using an external speaker microphone. This can be utilized for computer sound device digital modes, but it requires an unusual type of PTT interface. This is positive-going transmit logic PTT instead of the normal grounded transmit PTT that most radios use. The PTT logic HI (approximately +3V to +5V) is supplied to the sleeve of the stereo micro mini plug, relative to the SP speaker ground sleeve. The good news is, the interface does not require any transistors or ICs for the PTT part of the circuit, because the serial port provides positive-going logic on the RTS pin for transmit. It is only necessary to limit the current, and this can be accomplished with a 47K resistor. Some diodes, 1/8 watt resistors, and a 0.1uF capacitor are needed. The diodes can be almost any common signal diode such as 1N916 or a 1N4004 diode 1 ampere type. A schematic concept design with transformer audio isolation is shown below.

Warning: This design is intended for use with a typical USB-to-Serial adapter which has low voltage RS-232 style logic levels not exceeding +/-8V.

This design may also be suitable for some other radios requiring positive-going PTT logic.
For interfaces for other radios, please see common transceiver computer interfaces.
